PokerStars Might Enter Connecticut After Mohegan Casino Adds Fanduel’s Branding
The Mohegan Sun casino recently announced that its online and retail sportsbook would possess branding from the Mohegan tribe and FanDuel. A company executive even stated that the casino might add PokerStars as an operator to bring online poker operations to Connecticut.
Rich Roberts (Mohegan Digital’s President) recently talked with Pokerfuse and stated that MGE would be collaborating with FanDuel to provide esteemed solutions in Connecticut. The company will also merge the services with its retail and brand experience.
Rich continued that the company will offer an outstanding experience to every gaming enthusiast in the state. The casino will use the digital app and retail sportsbook with FanDuel’s operations to deliver the experience.
Rich helped MGE to launch Mohegan Digital in its iGaming division back in June. The company continued quick developments and announced a collaboration with FanDuel on 7th July.
The collaboration requires FanDuel to offer retail and online sportsbooks, daily fantasy sports, and iGaming in Connecticut using Mohegan Tribe’s license. The development will allow FanDuel to launch a retail sportsbook in September temporarily. The operator will then launch a permanent facility in the winter.
While Mohegan is currently focusing on sports betting, Rich reminded that the company is not forgetting about online poker. Rich stated that PokerStars’ connection with New Jersey, MGE, will also focus on bringing poker to Connecticut. FanDuel is the best partner to promote iGaming, sports betting, and eventually poker in Connecticut.
Rich accepted that despite FanDuel’s lack of a poker application, PokerStars would fill the gap aptly. Moreover, since PokerStars and FanDuel are Flutter’s subsidiaries, MGE can use the app already used in three states – PokerStars PA, PokerStars NJ, and PS Michigan.
If authorities clarify the Wire Act, it will bring stability and more opportunities to the market. With DraftKings establishing connections with tribes, it is the ideal opportunity to make a move. If everything goes right, PokerStars will seamlessly enter the Connecticut market.
