Kambi Ventures Into Esports by Acquiring Abios

Acquisition Deal worth $31M

Kambi is a leading service provider to licensed direct-to-consumer (B2C) gaming operators. Acquiring Abios, a leading esports analytics and technology platform can provide enormous benefits in the future. Kambi will be providing the total payment for acquisition in 2 installments. One will be the starting pay of $17.2 million and the second installment of $13.8 million. The second installment might vary based on performance in the market in the future. The Esports market is an ample opportunity for Kambi to grow further, and acquiring Abios is a big smart move. Kambi has its headquarters in Malta, with branches in London, Sydney, Stockholm, Manila, Bucharest, and Philadelphia.

Abios, however, can continue working with clients not connected to Kambi in any way. Also, Abios has been allowed to retain its CEO, Oskar Froberg, and its CTO, Anton Janer.

In 2020, Abios generated revenue of $2 million from data and odd services. It has also been spotlighted quite a few times and got the attention of many big names like Microsoft, Kindred, Pinnacle, and many more.

Shared long term vision of Kambi and Abios

Kristian Nylen, the co-founder of Kambi and the Chief Executive Officer, said Kambi has been interested in Esports lately. They feel now is the perfect time to enter into esports and expand their horizons. Kristian also said that Froberg and Janer have a great team built at Abios, which can further help make big in esports, as is their goal for the long term.

Nylen said that he was looking forward to watching Abios expand and seeing what the integration of Abios with Kambi’s modular platform would mean for esports betting in the future. Abios’ CEO said they had faith in their people and talents and shared values and long-term vision.
